A guided first smart-home setup

See key home conditions at a glance.

Choose up to five temperature-and-humidity sensors, five open/close sensors, and five water-leak sensors in any combination, with at least one sensor total.

One foundation. Two radio paths. Three sensor types.

$149once for the guided product; hardware is separate

One guide handles every supported mix. Complete only the modules for your selected radio and categories above zero, then repeat the device cycle for each sensor.

The path from choice to proof

Know what happens before you start.

  1. 1

    Choose your radio and mix

Choose Zigbee/ZBT-2 or Z-Wave/ZWA-2, select 0–5 of each sensor type with at least one sensor total, and write down a plain location name for each one.

  2. 2

    Buy from the exact list

Choose one of the two supported models for each selected category, then buy Green, the matching radio, and the sensors directly from their sellers.

  3. 3

    Build the foundation once

Start Green and configure the selected radio through ZHA or Z-Wave JS. The same foundation supports every selected category.

  4. 4

    Complete only your modules

Skip any category with a count of zero. For each selected sensor, repeat pairing, naming, placement, and verification one device at a time.

  5. 5

Test and keep the undo path

Prove each sensor at its final location, optionally configure up to three notification-only automations, restart once, and keep the instructions for making everything quiet or removing the Starter additions.

Build your Starter

Choose one radio, then 0–5 of each sensor type.

Pick any combination, with at least one sensor total. Your choices stay in this browser and continue with you to the fit check. The fixed $149 price covers one reusable guide for the complete mix.

Human help, with clear edges

Three replies cover the Starter as a whole.

  • The Starter includes up to three setup-specific replies by email, requested within 14 days after successful paid order confirmation. The same three-reply pool covers foundation, sensors, and help creating or testing up to three simple notification-only automations.
  • If required Starter hardware is delayed, order it and email us during the first 14 days. The support and refund periods restart as a full 14 days when the last required item arrives.
  • Calls, chat, screen sharing, remote access, physical installation, open-ended network repair, equipment-control automations, and open-ended custom automation design are not included.
  • We aim to reply within two business days. Refund and hardware-delay notices do not use a troubleshooting reply.

Refund timing

The Open Home Kits charge can come back.

The full amount paid to Open Home Kits, including tax collected by Open Home Kits, is refundable for 14 days after successful paid order confirmation. Hardware, seller shipping, seller-collected tax, Home Assistant Cloud, and other third-party charges are excluded.

Keep the limits in view

Useful information is not monitoring.

  • You buy and physically install the hardware; we do not perform wiring, electrical, repair, or home-network work.
  • We do not ask for passwords, recovery codes, remote-access links, or full diagnostic archives.
  • The selected sensors and optional notifications are information and convenience tools, not monitoring or emergency response.
  • Water-leak state and notifications do not guarantee detection or prevent property damage.
  • Temperature and humidity readings are not for health, food, pet, freeze, mold, or equipment-protection decisions.
  • Product links are direct and non-affiliate; sellers control stock, price, shipping, and tax.
